These checks stay at the thermostat, filter, vents, and visible comfort symptoms. Do not open air-handler panels, touch wiring, bypass controls, or keep running the system if water is spreading near ceilings or electrical parts.
Set the thermostat fan to Auto for several normal cooling cycles and compare comfort, vent sweating, and indoor humidity with the fan On setting.
Replace a dirty filter, open supply vents, and make sure returns are not blocked so airflow can move across the indoor coil normally.
Use a small hygrometer in the room that feels sticky; indoor relative humidity staying above 60% is a warning sign.
Call for service if humidity, musty odor, condensation, water near the air handler, short cycling, or weak airflow continues after safe checks.
During cooling, the indoor coil removes moisture and sends it to the condensate drain. If the fan keeps running after cooling stops, air can pass over the wet coil and carry some of that moisture back into the home.
In Pinellas homes with attic duct leakage, garage returns, leaky boots, or damp rooms, continuous fan operation can move more humid air through the duct system even when the outdoor unit is not cooling.
Auto helps many homes, but persistent humidity can still come from short cycling, oversized equipment, dirty coils, clogged filters, slow drains, duct leakage, thermostat setup, or the need for dedicated dehumidification.

Auto is usually better for humidity control because the blower stops between cooling cycles and lets moisture drain from the indoor coil. Fan On can move air continuously, but in humid weather it may put moisture back into the home.
Usually yes. When you set the fan to On, the indoor blower runs continuously instead of only during cooling cycles, so it draws power even when the outdoor condenser is off. Over a long Pinellas County cooling season, that extra blower runtime can add up on your electric bill, especially with an older motor or a restrictive filter.
Fan On can make sense for short-term air mixing or extra filtration in a home whose ductwork, filter, and equipment are sized and maintained for it, for example when balancing temperatures across rooms after a long run. In humid Florida weather, though, it should be watched against rising indoor humidity, sweating vents, and comfort, rather than left On out of habit.
Circulate is a middle option on some thermostats because it runs the fan for only part of each hour instead of continuously, which can balance air movement with lower blower runtime than Fan On. Because every home and duct system responds differently, Circulate should still be tested against indoor humidity, comfort, and vent condensation before you rely on it day to day.
It can contribute. Continuous fan operation can keep humid indoor air moving over cold ducts or a wet evaporator coil, which raises the chance of condensation on vent grilles and boots. Sweating or dripping vents can also point to duct insulation, air leaks, weak airflow, dirty filters, or indoor humidity above the comfortable range, so the full system should be checked.
Try Auto first, replace a dirty filter, and use a hygrometer to measure indoor humidity over a few days. If the home still feels sticky on Auto, schedule a diagnosis, because persistent humidity can involve short cycling, weak airflow, a slow condensate drain, duct leakage, a dirty coil, thermostat setup, or a system that needs dedicated dehumidification rather than a fan-setting change.
